THE FERN

Our symbol is the fern which is popularly also known as AYA in Akan. It is a plant that has a deep root system which helps it to survive in the harshest of conditions. It is a symbol of resilience, strength and endurance. As a symbol it encourages people to remain steadfast in the face of adversity, to keep pushing forward when things get tough and reminder that we all have the strength to withstand difficult times and to come out stronger on the other side.

At Social Action for Minorities Empowerment (SAME), we believe that persons in the minority strand whether due to social, political, religious exigencies are also strong enough to overcome the challenges they face. Given the right support, they can rise up and succeed against what the notion of being minorities imposes on them.
